13 Tweets from town hall meeting; City College community seeks answers

Embattled Interim Chancellor Dr. Pamila Fisher fielded questions today from more than one hundred members of the City College community during a town hall style meeting held at Ocean campus in response to the threat of school closure.

Faculty, students and staff all asked Fisher questions, and The Guardsman was on hand to Tweet it through twitter.com/fitzthereporter .

The Western Association of Schools and Colleges, aka WASC, is the accreditation team that has ordered City College to “show cause” that it deserves to retain its accreditation status, which will require the school make drastic changes to its budget and structure or risk closure by the state of California.

College officials must submit a plan to WASC by October 15 that addresses the problems identified in the accreditation team’s report. Then they will have till March 15, 2013 to prove why the school should remain accredited.

Another town hall meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on July 9 at the LGBT center at 1800 Market St. in San Francisco. For more information, go to: https://www.facebook.com/events/147727708697807/
