2x6-v2-PROOF

ABC7 News anchor Cheryl Jennings will be one of the alumni panelists participating

in a symposium on “Why Journalism Matters,” sponsored by City College of San

Francisco’s Journalism Department.

Rounding out the panel are Examiner reporter Joe Fitzgerald Rodriguez, Pacific Sun

newspaper editor Molly Oleson and KQED-FM radio reporter Alex Emslie.

Former Chronicle editor and writer Tom Graham will moderate the discussion, which

will be held on Tuesday, May 5, between 7 and 9 p.m. at the school’s Mission

Campus auditorium, located at 1125 Valencia Street, between 22nd and 23rd

streets. A question and answer session will follow.

“The participants – former students who are now professionals – will share their

insights on the vital role that the news media plays and the opportunities that exist in

this challenging field,” said Graham, who teaches journalism at City College.

The event is free and open to the public. Snacks and refreshments will be served.
