The City College men’s basketball team’s plan to make back-to-back trips to the state championships ended abruptly as No. 8 seeded Cabrillo stunned the No. 1 seeded Rams with a 70-76 win in overtime on Feb. 29 at the Wellness Center.
The Rams finished their regular season on a 20-game win streak and play in the NorCal Regionals this week with hope of getting a state tournament bid.
With City College riding a 12-game winning streak, and beating opponents by an average of 32 points per game during that streak, the Rams came into their game against Foothill College with a lot of confidence.
The City College men’s basketball team hosted their first tournament of the season as they finished second losing to Santa Rosa Junior College in the finals 84-82. The loss snaps a 29-game winning streak.
With the tip-off to the 2011-2012 season only weeks away, the City College men’s basketball team is working hard to gel and build chemistry in hopes of repeating last year’s run to becoming state champions
