The Interim Chancellor, who came out of retirement to take on the position, has referred to addressing City College’s financial crisis as “righting the ship”. As he prepares to leave the helm, students and faculty continue to work to reconcile salaries and employment with his administration’s Multi-Year Budget Plan.
The ACCJC will be placing City College on enhanced monitoring because of budget issues at the college.
The Board of Trustees approved the contract of Dr. Rajen Vurdien, who started in July.
Dr. Rajen Vurdien was appointed as Interim Chancellor of City College this June for a term that began July 1, 2020, and will end June 30, 2021. In an interview with The Guardsman, Vurdien identifies key areas of importance and discusses actions taken so far.
