In the fiscal year 2021-2022, both faculty and classified workers received “pink slips” as notice of layoff. As departments struggle to maintain certificates, no positions will be reinstated for the foreseeable future.
Administration recently proposed a plan to reopen campuses to in person learning, but there have been discussions about delaying it due to frustration with the lack of consideration and planning.
At the close of a universally heart-rending year, City College has lost two prominent and beloved faculty members. Dr. Henry Augustine and Lyudmila Karapetyan, each in their own way, knit themselves tightly into the City College community, now threadbare and grieving.
Students and faculty are anything but happy with the new Banner 9 maintenance of the Ellucian system for registration and are demanding that all glitches straightened out so that classes can go forward online.
Vicky has worked at City College for forty years as a Switchboard Operator in ITS. She’s retiring this month and it’s the end of a lifelong career here. Vicky started at City College right out of high school and saw the college change over decades. Telecommunications certainly changed with it, new automated services coming to ITS.

Chancellor Arthur Tyler announced on Feb. 21 that no March 15 notices, also known as a “pink slip” among faculty and staff, will be sent out this year, providing strong evidence that City College will remain open next semester.
