The sun broke through the previous week’s storm surge for a cool yet dry afternoon on the field. The stands were lined with fans wrapped in jackets and blankets while the Rams’ footwork ran hot on the turf. The Rams started the first half off by almost indefinitely holding the ball on the offensive side. Each pass knifed the ball easily through the pattern of well-positioned players, and they rarely let up.
With a 2-0 win over Chabot College, the City College men’s soccer team entered the playoffs as the 12th seed and faced No. 21 Cabrillo College on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
Scoring nine goals, the Rams completely dominated the first half. Sophomore Paige Pineda-Aliamus led the way, scoring three goals with assists from Carmen Hinton, Sydney Grundland Lanuza, and Nare Avetian.
The San Francisco City College women’s soccer team made a statement on Friday, Sept. 6, when they overcame a deficit to win their inaugural game against Reedley College. This victory over the Tigers conveyed more than just the Rams’ focus on winning a championship this year.
In his eighth season leading the team, Head Coach Jeff Wilson would argue this year’s squad is coming into the season strong.
Rams women’s soccer put on a show in their home bout against the Chabot Gladiators, dominating the scoreline 7-1 on Friday, October 20.
Elvira Motuapuaka, star goalkeeper for City College’s women’s soccer team, continues to grow through every challenge both on and off the field finding inspiration and encouragement everywhere she goes.

I had set a goal for myself and you know that feeling when you achieve a goal, it just felt really good,” Estrada said. “I think just being able to go and represent my dad’s small town from Guatemala…I just know how proud I would make him myself and like everyone in that town.”
Going into the 2022 season, the Rams hope to replicate and exceed the success they found last season with their newly promoted full-time head coach Mr. Jeff Wilson.
