“Love and Other Drugs” is more than just another boring love story.

The film is about Jamie (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Maggie (Anne Hathaway), two singles living in Ohio, who are looking for casual sex with no strings attached.

Maggie is an artist who suffers from stage one Parkinson’s disease. She refuses to become romantically involved because she doesn’t want pity or someone that feels obligated to be with her due to her illness.  Jamie is a sales representative for Pfizer who’s always been a Casanova and has never taken anyone seriously.

They met under strange circumstances and after Jamie’s persistence, Maggie agrees to date him and they start having casual sex. But they slowly begin to fall into a routine, start spending quality time together and become an unofficial couple.

Maggie tries to push Jamie away after he professes his love for her but she is unsuccessful.

Maggie’s Parkinson’s begins to worsen and Jamie becomes obsessed with finding some type of treatment to improve her symptoms, causing their relationship to slowly crumble.

Although this movie is a bit of a tear-jerker, with cast members like Josh Gad be ready for a good laugh. This is not something you want to watch around young people as it does have a lot of nudity.

It’s like they put “Knocked Up” and “The Notebook” in a blender and this was the result. The movie was definitely worth the $11 that movie theaters are charging nowadays.
