The Rams knew they needed a big win before heading off on a grueling five-game road trip next week. On Jan. 21, the Rams got exactly what they wished for.

Guard Britteny Allen sparked the game for City College with 18 points, and forward Courtney Buster added 12 as the Rams rolled to a 86-39 victory over Las Positas College.

Trailing only once, down 3-0 in the first minute of the ball game, the Rams began the onslaught by scoring early and often. Moné Peoples contributed to the early scoring by netting a quick six points in the opening 10 minutes of the first half.

Allen and Buster became a two-woman wrecking crew, the Rams continues to pour it on in the second half.. Allen heated up, going 3-4 from beyond the arc while Buster was a force inside, powering her way to the rim with ease.

Both players knew this game was an important start to the five games, but neither seemed to feel any pressure.

“I actually like playing away. That way other people can see us play,” Allen said.

“We know, of course, any game we get into, everyone we play is going to bring their ‘A’ game,” Buster said. “So we just gotta come out and play our game.”

The lone bright spot for Las Positas was forward Lasaline Kata, who scored 10 points for the Hawks.

The Rams will travel to San Mateo College Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. and then to Chabot College Jan. 30 at 5:30 p.m., marking the second and third games on the five-game road trip.
