Many residents of the Mission were drawn to the idea of more public space and pointed to the fact that they would occasionally benefit from the closure of the Highway. Hence, many show support for the ordinance without recognizing the latent drawbacks on the local community. While the whole city had a say on Proposition K, the consequences of it fall entirely on the west side of the city, clearly against it.

Mayor Breed Subsidizes Small Businesses With New Relief Program

On September 15, in a press conference located at the shoe store, “Footprint,” on Taraval, Mayor London Breed and Supervisor Gordon Mar announced the launch of a new program called the “Storefront Vandalism Relief Grant Program.” The program plans to offer either $1,000 or $2,000 to small businesses victimized by break-ins or any sort of property damage caused by crime.
