In the trustee’s emergency meeting on Tuesday March 14, the City College board approved a $2.6 million transfer into a construction fund in order to help fix heating issues. However these repairs will take months and many of the stopgap solutions don’t seem to be working according to many faculty who spoke at the meeting.
When it comes to the values that we at The Guardsman feel represent City College – support of public education, local hiring, labor rights, tenant’s rights, affordable healthcare, and better public transit – only one candidate could fit the bill on all accounts: John Avalos.

City College hosted its first every toy camera photography gallery at City College’s Gallery Obscura on Jan. 29. The exhibition titled, “Through a Plastic Lens,” is located on Ocean Campus’s Visual Arts Building, in room 160, and included photographs from Professor Stephanie Williamson’s plastic camera class. Williamson also taught students how to pay attention to movements within their camera and how the art of photography has the power to change lives.
